Whether you have come here to try something new, book tickets for one of our amazing celebrity events, view some evidence of our wonderful and local artistic talent, or just make a plan to catch up with your friends and neighbours, you are very welcome in St Michael’s and we hope you will find something in our varied programme which suits your taste.
Our vision is to entertain, enrich, and inform our audiences through the power of the Arts, especially those who are local to Stockwell, SW9. Every year we present a varied programme of events of the highest quality, supporting and promoting London’s talent – whether artist, performer, musician or writer – and widening accessibility to all our events through sponsorship.
We want to play a key part in community building in Stockwell, bringing the community together to enjoy and appreciate the Arts, enjoy our events and have a drink and chat with friends and neighbours. Our atmosphere is relaxed, our code informal, and our prices are excellent value.
We particularly aim to help introduce children and young adults to the arts, ensuring that we have something available for all ages. We provide multiple opportunities to participate in the Festival rather than just watching – through workshops, craft-making, jazz jamming, and performing in stand-up comedy and poetry nights. We also provide a platform for students and graduates from London’s conservatoires to showcase their talents in the concert and opera.
Though the Festival is secular in nature, we also have very special Festival Sunday services at St Michael’s on each of the three Sundays, which will incorporate a feast of musical delight. On the first Sunday we have the wonderful Music Antica Rother singing within our joyous family communion service. Then soloist Camilla Seale will sing at our “high” sung service with incense on the second Sunday. The final Festival Sunday will see our Festival Choir singing both a Chorale Matins and anthems at our solemn eucharist. We welcome attendees of all faiths and none.
You are warmly invited to join us for one, some or all events at this year’s festival, and we very much hope to welcome you there.
